Get to Know
Alvin L. Johnson Jr.
Owner and CEO of PACKY Academy LLC, a program that combines his passions for music and youth development. Born and raised in NE Portland, Alvin grew up in a musical family and began his musical journey at a young age, playing drums at 2, trumpet at 9, and discovering his true love for the piano at 16. He toured the country professionally as a pianist across various genres.
Alvin’s interest in working with children began at 12 when he helped in his mother’s successful childcare program. By 15, he became an official staff member and discovered his love for mentoring youth. With over 20 years of experience and a degree in music, Alvin is now blending his skills as a professional musician and his passion for serving youth through PACKY Academy.
PACKY Academy offers music lessons in piano, voice, and percussion, as well as exposure to other art forms. The program provides a culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate curriculum for children, with plans to expand in the future. As a third-generation Early Childhood Education entrepreneur and a positive Black male role model, Alvin is dedicated to providing artistic opportunities and community growth, particularly in the Portland area where he
grew up.

At P.A.C.K.Y (Performing. Arts. Creative. Kids. & Youth) Academy we focus on providing the best care and education for your children, while introducing them to performing arts. PACKY Academy has two passions: music and serving the youth with the goal of building a stronger community. Here at PACKY Academy we will create a space where children feel comfortable, loved, respected, and equal, while helping children develop a strong and positive self-image. In addition to providing a rich environment that stimulates learning through performing arts, we have established programs that are developmentally appropriate for each stage of development.
